Bring your friends and family to help us celebrate the 2018 opening of Avoca Museum. This free and family-oriented event is a fun and interesting way to re-acquaint with this lovely historic place. If you have never visited Avoca, this would be your golden opportunity to do that.
The event is free and is offered in appreciation for the Town of Altavista’s support of the museum. House tours, demonstrations by living history interpreters, refreshments, beverages, and adult drinks are all a part of the celebration. Come one, come all!
House tours last 11 AM – 2 PM and tours close at 2 PM. At 2 PM, a fascinating lecture by Dr. Jay Hopkins will be given in which he will display and discuss arms and equipment of Virginia’s colonial militia. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to get “up close and personal” with local history.
