The Most Amazing Wedding Venue Ever!

“Okay...so the title may be over the top. But it's the way that I feel about Avoca Museum and its amazing director Mike. Our family lives in Pennsylvania; the groom's family lives in Georgia. The couple lives and works around Lynchburg, Virginia, so they wanted a unique venue that was out-of-doors and distinctive. They found that plus so much more at Avoca.The museum house is beautiful, set atop a hill off of Main Street (Business Route 29) in AltaVista. As beautiful as the front is, the backyard and gardens offer wonderful surprises and discoveries that make an event fun for everyone. Planning a wedding from out-of-state can be daunting, but Mike made it not only painless but a joy. His suggestions were spot-on since he knows what works. The ceremony was beautiful, held under the majestic trees. The reception was there as well, with service from the kitchen. The stage area in the back provided space for music and dancing. At the reception, guests enjoyed hearing the story of the family who lived in the house, and looking at recently found artifacts. I would highly recommend Avoca Museum as a wedding / reception venue...and a great place to take students on field trips as well!”

We lived out of town, but they would let us come see the place and ask questions whenever we needed too. the staff is very good at communication, and easy to work with.
